MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The company of the man who veered off the highway in Mission and crashed into a nearby empty home on Saturday is helping the family with funeral costs.

The 51-year-old driver, identified as Anastacio Martinez Jr., worked for seven years at Rega Transport Inc. as a semi-truck driver, often making long trips across state lines.

Martinez was on his way to deliver a load to California when the accident happened.

Rega Transport's Roberto Reyna said it was Martinez's first trip back after taking a week off work.

"He had been away for a week so this was his first trip back," Reyna said. "Our yard is about five minutes from where the accident happened so that just shows you that anything in this industry can happen from one second to the other."

Reyna said Rega Transports is helping Martinez's family pay for some of the funeral costs. The company has also started a GoFundMe page to help the family with any other expenses. The GoFundMe page has already brought in over $2,000 in donations.
