Former Sharyland Pioneer and UTSA quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger announced Monday he is transferring to play football at UTRGV.
Marburger spent the past four seasons at UTSA and entered the transfer portal on Dec. 9. He played his final game with the Roadrunners on Dec. 23, 2024, a 44-15 win over Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
Marburger was rated a 3-star prospect coming out of high school by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. He will be a redshirt senior this upcoming season and is currently listed at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds.
Marburger is the Rio Grande Valley’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 103. He finished his high school career with 8,966 passing yards, 103 passing touchdowns, 2,381 rushing yards and 44 rushing touchdowns. His 58 touchdown passes during the 2019-20 season is also a single-season record in the RGV.
Marburger appeared in seven games for UTSA this past season, completing 22-of-40 passes for 234 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. In his four years at UTSA, Marburger appeared in 18 games, started two, and competed 65-of-120 passes for 777 yards and seven touchdowns.
UTRGV is scheduled to kickoff its first season of Division I FCS football against Sul Ross State on Aug. 30, 2025 at Vackar Stadium in Edinburg.
