A crowd of families and children showed up early to the event and geared up to gather the bright-colored eggs that were scattered around the Sheriff's Department.

"It's a great event and the community responded very well, I am overwhelmed at how many kids we have here - which is our goal; this is for the kids, which is our future," said Cameron County Sheriff Manuel Trevino.

Trevino added he hopes this event will strengthen the community relations so those who need help do not feel discouraged to visit the sheriff's department when needed.
