MCALLEN, Texas – Developer Michael Fallek reiterated his support for RioPlex during a recent groundbreaking ceremony for his new 125-acre McAllen South Industrial Park.
He said from the podium: “Before I finish up, I do want to give a proper shoutout to Mario Reyna and Joaquin Spamer. Thank you for joining us. It is their vision for the RioPlex, which is going to make a big difference in communicating the (Rio Grande) Valley and the region’s message to the rest of the country and the world; to help put South Texas and Northern Mexico even more so on the map for the business community in the United States and Central and South America and in Europe and China as well.”
RioPlex is a new branding initiative designed to help market South Texas and Northern Mexico across the globe. It was devised by the CEO Group, which came about via Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez’s Prosperity Task Force. Among the biggest champions of RioPlex are Valley businessman Joaquin Spamer and retired educator Mario Reyna. Spamer leads the CEO Group. Both Spamer and Reyna in the audience for the McAllen South Industrial Park groundbreaking.
Fallek has publicly voiced his support for RioPlex before, in an interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service in July. Click here to hear the interview.
Interviewed about RioPlex after the groundbreaking, Fallek told the Guardian: “So, this is really Mario Reyna’s and Joaquin Spamer’s vision. We’re happy to be a part of it. We’re excited to be in a position where we can help that vision come to fruition. What they have been able to do is build a groundswell of support to identify and earmark this region as really the doorstep to the United States and connectivity for Central and South America, and how we can make a mark on international trade, not only here locally, with our neighbors, whether it’s in Canada, Asia, Europe, or throughout the world.”
