Edinburg hosts Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg held its annual Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony, this morning at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium.

The city showcased and honored fallen heroes with photos from family members as well as descriptions and bios for the fallen.

"Edinburg takes great pride in being recognized as a Hometown of Heroes, boasting 90 Fallen Heroes who valiantly served from WWI to today," the city stated in a release. "Among them stand two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Sgt. Alfredo "Freddy" Gonzalez, PVT Pedro Cano, and Gold Medal recipient Petty Officer Jose Antonio Saenz."
