The Edinburg City Council will convene on January 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the City Hall-Council Chambers, located at 415 West University Dr. The meeting will commence with a call to order and the establishment of a quorum, followed by a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. The certification of public notice and disclosure of conflict of interest will also be addressed. The mayor's report and city manager's report will be presented, which will include discussions on the All-America City David Chavana 10K Run/Walk, Fun Run, and Miracle Mile. A proclamation recognizing January 2026 as Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees Month will be presented by Clarice Y. Balderas, City Secretary. The public will have the opportunity to provide comments, limited to three minutes, on any topic they wish to discuss. The city council will also hold public hearings on various matters, including a grant application to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for the Veterans Detention Pond Trail Project, a sign variance request, and a special use permit for on-premise consumption of alcoholic beverages. Several ordinances will be considered, including amendments to the Code of Ordinances related to land usage and administration. Appointments to the Airport Advisory Board and other city advisory boards will be considered. The consent agenda will include matters such as the approval of an interlocal agreement with Hidalgo County, the purchase of portable radios and accessories, and the renewal of the city's immutable backup system. The meeting will conclude with an executive session to discuss pending or potential litigation, settlement offers, and other legal matters, as well as economic development negotiations and the purchase or value of real property.
