ELSA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A student is facing consequences after bringing a weapon to school on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District.
District officials say a student at Carlos F. Truan Jr. High was found to be in possession of a BB gun on campus.
A district protocol was initiated to secure the weapon and take appropriate measures.
“Student and staff safety is our top priority,” said Edcouch-Elsa ISD Superintendent Dr. Sandy Ochoa. “We are grateful for the quick response by our campus team and appreciative of everyone’s cooperation.”
The district states there is no ongoing threat to the campus.
No injuries were reported.
"EEISD reminds families that weapons and lookalike weapons, including BB guns, are strictly
prohibited on school property and at school events," the district stated in a press release. "We encourage students and families to report safety concerns directly to campus administrators."
District officials say additional information about the student will not be released due to student privacy requirements.
