MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The McAllen Nature Center unveiled on Wednesday the Driscoll Health System Outdoor Learning Environment Outdoor play facility.
Driscoll Health Plan has been providing services for South Texas families for over 70 years processing all their medical needs at the grassroots level.
Driscoll Health Plan has partnered with the city of McAllen and the McAllen Nature Center to carry out its vision.
"The outdoor learning environment is one of those visions coming to life. We're going to have an opportunity to engage our families outside of the clinical aspect and the traditional care. We will be having particular events that will allow families to come and just enjoy the sensory activities available in this space, and more than anything, be able to learn how to engage with nature, and the beautiful parks in this area," said Rose Santos, Community Outreach Manager for Driscoll Health Plan.
The nature center will host an event in March that will allow families to practice healthy habits with many other events throughout 2025.
