Driscoll Children's Hospital celebrates ribbon cutting celebration

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Driscoll Children's Hospital celebrated opening its first freestanding designated children's hospital in the Rio Grande Valley.

The ribbon cutting, originally planned for June, gathered the community to celebrate a monumental moment.

Texas State Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa said, "Families who have issues, who have children, who have specialties and who have to leave the Valley, now can stay because we have our own children's hospital."

Senator Hinojosa also received an award from the Children's Hospital Association of Texas, for his work in advocating to improve healthcare for children.
