DPS: Woman dies in Edinburg wrong way crash

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A woman is dead after a wrong way crash in Edinburg early Sunday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two vehicles crashed at 3:38 a.m. Sunday on FM 2812 and Vista Bonita Drive in Edinburg in Hidalgo County. 

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Honda Accord, occupied a man and a woman was traveling westbound on the eastbound lane, the wrong way of FM 2812 approaching Vista Bonita Drive. 

A 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, occupied by two men was traveling eastbound on FM 2812 and collided with the Honda. 

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were transported to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance with non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver and passenger of the Honda were also transported to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance with incapacitating injuries.  

The passenger of the Honda, identified as, Itzel Limas, 28, a resident of Edinburg, died from her injuries at the hospital. 

DPS Troopers are further investigating this fatal crash.
