WILLACY COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested for drunk driving following a fatal crash, authorities said.
At 12:13 a.m. on Saturday, according to a news release from Texas DPS, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two-vehicle crash on FM 1762 and Cantu Road in Willacy County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Maxima, driven by a woman later identified as Raymondville resident 25-year-old Kyleigh Posas, was going westbound on FM 1762.
A Dodge Ram 1500, driven by a man identified as Sebastian resident 27-year-old Ropsendo Daniel Rodriguez, was traveling northbound on Cantu Road, approaching a stop sign at FM 1762 and Cantu Road.
Authorities say Rodriguez disregarded the stop sign and crashed into the Nissan at the intersection.
Rodriguez was showing signs of intoxication and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where a warrant for his blood was executed.
Posas was reported dead at the scene.
Rodriguez was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was taken to the Willacy County Jail, pending arraignment.
