BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Discount days are returning to the Gladys Porter Zoo this fall.

The zoo will have discount admission prices for three select weekends in September and October.

Each weekend will dedicate discounts to different areas of the Rio Grande Valley.

Weekend one:

The first weekend of discount days will be for Brownsville residents only.

Admission for Brownsville residents will be $2 per adult or child starting Friday, September 6 until Sunday, September 8.

Weekend two:

The following weekend of discount days will be for lower Valley residents in Cameron and Willacy counties.

The discount also applies to residents of Matamoros.

Admission for lower Valley and Matamoros residents will be $6 per adult and $4 per child.

The second weekend of discount days starts Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 15.

Weekend three:

The third and final weekend of discounts will be for upper Valley in Hidalgo and Starr counties.

The discount also applies to residents in Reynosa, Nuevo Progreso and outside of the Rio Grande Valley.

Admission for upper Valley residents and beyond will be $6 per adult and $4 per child.

The third and final weekend starts Friday, October 11 and ends Sunday, October 13.

Gladys Porter Zoo asks all guests to present a proof of residency, including a driver's license or utility bill, to receive the discount.

Only one person per family or group will need to present proof of residency.

Visitors living outside of the United States may present a passport or other identification.
