EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — DHR Health hosted a luncheon Thursday afternoon to celebrate the lives of patients who have been treated for traumatic injuries.
The luncheon welcomed trauma survivors to share their stories of recovery and expressed their thanks to DHR Health.
Amanda Gaylord is one of several trauma survivors who attended the luncheon.
Gaylord was living at Laredo and working as a paramedic at the time of her accident.
"It was another day at work, you know, just on the on shift as a paramedic. And somehow, some way, the ambulance had a collision with an 18-wheeler," Gaylord said.
Gaylord was life-flighted from Laredo to DHR Health where she was assessed immediately by the trauma team.
"I could feel their love for me through the way that they would take care of me and would go above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable, no matter what it was," Gaylord said. "That kind of care is difficult to find."
