BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — DHR Health Brownsville announced the expansion of its surgical robotic fleet on Monday.
The da Vinci 5 robotic-assisted surgical system aims to enhance surgeon precision and improve patient outcomes. Physicians were present to demonstrate how the system is used during surgery to interested individuals.
Surgeons can maintain full control, as the robotic system translates their hand movements into the precise manipulation of tiny instruments, according to a news release.
This advanced technology assists with various minimally invasive procedures across general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric.
Benefits of the surgical system include reduced trauma to the body, shorter hospital stays, decreased blood loss, less postoperative pain and discomfort, lower risk of infection, and minimized scarring.
Enhancements to the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system include:
- New force feedback technology to reduce the impact on tissue
- Optimized vision with improved color accuracy, higher image resolution, and more realistic 3D imaging
- Enhanced design for surgeon comfort and surgical viewing
- Over 10,000 times the computing power of its predecessor
DHR Health Brownsville is the first and only hospital in the region to offer the da Vinci 5 system.
