MISSION, Texas – Leaders in Mission are excited about the opening of the city’s first Olive Garden.

The restaurant is located on the northeast corner of Bryan Road and Interstate 2, on the old K-Mart site, which also houses Murdock’s Ranch and Home Supply and a Burlington store. The restaurant’s official address is 1405 E Expressway 83.

“Having Olive Garden in the city of Mission is going to have a huge impact. It will spur economic development and not only for our hotels, we’re going to have people come over and stay in the city of mission, but also for retail,” said Deborah Cordova, board secretary for Mission Economic Development Corporation.

Ruben Plata, mayor pro-tem for the City of Mission said: “I want to thank the economic development board and the rest of my colleagues, council members and the mayor for having the vision and working hard to bring more retail into our community.”

Teclo J. Garcia, CEO of Mission EDC, said Olive Garden would be making a donation to the local food bank.

“Our job is to create jobs, create opportunities for investment and enhance the workforce. Those are our three pillars. Helping recruit a restaurant like Olive Garden is part of our job recruitment, creating jobs and investment. And so Olive Garden fits that bill,” Garcia said.

“It’s a really good restaurant. It has great people, and they’re a very conscious restaurant, they’re donating $25,000 to our food bank, and so they’re a great partner and I can’t wait (for when) the entire public gets to come and enjoy the enjoy the place.”
