Collapsed sewer line in Harlingen prompts emergency repairs

In order to replace a collapsed sewer line, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Harlingen WaterWorks will close a segment of Ed Carey Drive beginning at midnight. 

“The emergency repairs will require a full closure of Ed Carey Drive, from 200 feet north of the Union Pacific railroad tracks south of US Business 77 to Glasscock Avenue,” TxDOT said in a news release. 

TxDOT said the work is expected to be completed by Saturday at 4 p.m. so drivers have to seek alternative routes until then.
