HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — After a few dreary days, the Rio Grande Valley is going to see an about-face, but don't look for it Wednesday. We are going to hold on to mostly cloudy conditions with a chance for a shower or two. Highs Wednesday should be warmer than we have seen this week so far, with temperatures in the upper 70's for much of the Valley, and maybe reaching 81 degrees in Starr County this afternoon.

The big change will come in the form of a weak cold front on Thursday. It may be knocking on the Starr County door by mid day. What we will notice behind the front is more about drier air than cooler air.

The main push of drier air may lag behind the front a bit, but once it arrives it will make for a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Daytime highs may not drop much Friday through the weekend, but the drop in humidity will make for some really nice weather to get out and enjoy! With the return of southeasterly winds on Sunday, humidity will start it's return, but not enough to make the day uncomfortable.

We really need rain in the area, but after a few cool and gloomy days, having the sun return in time for the weekend is pretty good timing!
