HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Classroom Cribs is returning to ValleyCentral to highlight schools making a positive difference to their students.

ValleyCentral is highlighting five school districts for this edition and we’re asking our viewers to vote for their favorite classroom.

The ValleyCentral team visited Mission to learn about its extracurricular programs that help students find their passion for the arts, and prepare for college and life after high school.

Cris Valdez, Mission CISD Superintendent kicked off the tour with a quick stop at Mission CISD's Tom Landry Stadium. It's dedicated to NFL Dallas Cowboys Coach Tom Landry, who was born and raised in Mission.

The next stop for Classroom Cribs was at Mission CISD TITANS House, which was established to help students who need assistance learn basic independent living skills for life after high school.

"You get to learn how to be independent, you learn to speak up for yourself and you learn employability skills," said Mission CISD TITANS House student.

Valdez also highlighted the opportunities Mission Collegiate High School has to offer.  Students can earn their associate degree or Medical Health Science certificate while attending high school.

"What makes the student union special is that you are surrounded by all your peers and also there is usually about two teachers here, so you get to ask them for help," said a MCHS student.
