MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen offered a first look at some of the floats that will appear at the McAllen Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7.
According to the city, it is the largest lineup they have had in the past 11 years. There are over 120 elements to the parade such as marching bands, giant helium balloons, and over 60 floats.
"I can't say enough about our team at the parks and recreation float studio who build these amazing works of art," said Carina Jimenez, Deputy Director McAllen Parks and Recreation. "They are truly design concepts. Work starts months ahead of the event, and the construction process is ongoing as we get closer to the event. Putting those final touches, whether it be lighting, beautiful colors on each one, or all kinds of different touches that truly represent the season."
Jimenez said to look out for the floats such as the dancing trio of cacti, the giant guitars, and, of course, the giant Noche Magica Star.
You can watch the parade on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. on NBC 23. Our coverage on ValleyCentral.com and KGBT 4.1 begins at 5 p.m.
