EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg is having extended hours at city splash parks during the summer.

According to the city, the splash parks will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays. The splash water park will have supervision from a lifeguard, but the more shallow pads will not.

Officials stated it is important for parents to keep an eye on their children to make sure everyone is having fun safely.

"Make sure there's no running," said Nick Villarreal, aquatics manager for Edinburg Parks and Recreation. "Of course, do not drink the water. And also, make sure there's no horse play so that everyone can play safely."

Villarreal added it is important to keep water safely in mind whether you are at a splashpad or a neighbor pool.
