Check in with 'Elfie' the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Elf on the Shelf

HIDALGO COUNTY (ValleyCentral) — Christmas is around the corner and the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office has brought back its mischievous Elf on the Shelf, Elfie Elveson.

Here's a timeline of what Elfie has been up to:

December 3

Elfie made his first appearance of the season and learned all the ins and outs of the Sheriff's Office.

December 4

Elfie was eager to get into the action and was caught tryng to sneak in and join the deupties on patrol.

December 5

Elfie was on a ride-along with patrol deputies and spotted some suspicious activity. It was none other than The Grinch trying to steal Christmas! Thanks to his quick action and teamwork, The Grinch was arrested and Christmas was saved!

December 6

Elfie learned that there is always a voice behind the badge! He decided to spend time with communications officers to see how they keep everything running smoothly. He had so much to learn and realized that being the voice behind the scenes is not as easy as it looks.

December 7

Elfie got the hang of things in communications and got hands-on experience helping people. He learned how important the communications officers are in keeping everything running smoothly.

December 8

After giving communications a try, Elfie realized it might be a bit too stressful for him.

December 9

Elfie has traded the patrol car for a stay in detention. The only problem is nobody knew he was coming! Hopefully no one mistakes him for an intruder.

December 10

Elfie ran into Special Emergency Response Team Officer Cantu and things got intense. Cantu thought Elfie was an intruder, while Elfie decided Cantu could use a little more Christmas spirit!

December 11

The SERT team was successful and safely recovered Officer Cantu. Elfie has some explaining to do.

Tomorrow, he’s set to see Judge Gilbert Saenz. Let’s hope Elfie can prove he is an authorized visitor. Maybe First Lieutenant Garza will step in and help him out.

December 12

Elfie has been forgiven and cleared his name with Judge Saenz. Not only did he prove his innocence, but also landed a temporary job as a Detention Officer.
