Chance of severe storms for RGV, large hail threats

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Monday night a severe storm and multiple strong storms passed through the Rio Grande Valley. We have another chance for strong to severe storms Tuesday night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The main threats will be large hail and some gusty winds. Frequent lightning is also expected.

This is not all bad news as the entire Valley suffers from dry to moderate drought conditions.

We received anywhere from a trace to 1.2 inches of rain Monday night. It would be beneficial to receive more rain tonight.

Despite the overnight rain chances, we have been issued a heat advisory for this afternoon.
