CCSO: Woman accused of attempting to hit boyfriend with a molcajete, arrested

RIO HONDO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County deputies arrested a woman for allegedly attempting to hit her boyfriend across his head with a molcajete.

Irma Bradshaw, 63, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, according to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.

On July 23, authorities responded to the 31000 block of Juarez Road regarding an assault.

At the scene, deputies spoke with the victim who reported that his girlfriend, later identified as Bradshaw, had arrived at his home uninvited, entered his home without consent and demanded a payment of $100 that was owed to her.

According to the release, Bradshaw became irate and started to destroy his kitchen appliances, breaking off a part of his refrigerator and damaging the top part of the kitchen oven.

Additionally, she grabbed a molcajete and tried to hit the victim across his head with it, but he defended himself by blocking the hit with his left hand.

The release also states, Bradshaw grabbed car keys and began stabbing her boyfriend on his forehead with them.

"The victim did not want to file charges against Irma for the assault or damages on his property, however, Sheriff's Deputies proceeded to place her under arrest in order to protect the victim from further family violence," Cameron County Sheriff's Office stated.

Bradshaw was booked into Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center and is pending arraignment.
