CCSO: Man attempts to flush pills down toilet during drug seizure

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man who tried to flush narcotics down the toilet was arrested after authorities found several different drugs inside his apartment.

Miguel Angel Mancilla, 22, was charged with the following:

  • Manufacture/ Delivery of Substance in Penalty Group 3 for possessing/intent to deliver individually packaged bags of Xanax weighing 57 grams
  • Manufacture/ Delivery of Substances in Penalty Group 2-2A for possessing/intent to deliver pills that tested positive for MDMA (ecstasy) weighing 23 grams
  • Manufacture/ Delivery of Substances in Penalty Group 2-2A for possessing/intent to deliver individually packaged bags of spice weighing 10 grams
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence

At 2:48 p.m. on June 6, the Cameron County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment complex located on the 600 block of S. 17th Street.

When investigators entered the apartment, they came across a woman who was in the living room near the front door and immediately detained her.

Deputies later saw a man, identified as Mancilla, exiting the apartment bathroom and was detained. According to the news release, investigators noticed Mancilla's arms and sleeves were wet and saw water on the bathroom floor around the toilet.

Moments later, deputies found several unknown pills floating in the toilet water and on the bathroom floor next to the toilet.

Authorities say Mancilla attempted to get rid of the pills by flushing them down the toilet.

Inside the apartment, deputies found the following:

  • A glass jar containing marijuana in a kitchen cabinet
  • White pills, later identified as Xanax
  • Cocaine
  • Multiple small clear plastic bags containing synthetic marijuana, also known as spice
  • Digital scales and empty plastic bags in the living room/kitchen area

Mancilla was booked into the Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.
