CCSO: Man arrested for taking toddlers to buy drugs

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man, who allegedly purchased drugs with his children in the car.

According to the news release, around 5 p.m. on Oct. 17, deputies responded to the 2300 block of Avenida Magdalena in Cameron Park in reference to a welfare concern about two children who were missing and possibly with their father 28-year-old Juan Lugo, who is a known drug user.

The children had been missing since 1 p.m.

At around 6 p.m. a Precinct 5 Deputy Constable located Lugo and and the two missing children in the area of Nannette Avenue in Cameron Park.

The children were then recovered and released to their mother.

Lugo admitted he had taken his two-year-old and three-year-old with him to buy crack cocaine at a residence on Zena Avenue in Brownsville.

Lugo was found to have a crack pipe on him.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of abandoning/endangering a child.

Lugo was taken to Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment.
