RIO HONDO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested for allegedly giving alcohol to a minor, authorities said.
Angel Javier Jaime, 26, was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.
At 4 a.m. on June 8, deputies received a call about a welfare concern at a residence in Rio Hondo.
At the scene, deputies spoke with the reporting party who said her daughter sent her a message on Snapchat asking her to pick her up after feeling "uncomfortable.” She added, that she immediately picked her up from the residence, located at FM 2925, after receiving her daughter's message.
The girl told deputies a man, identified as Jaime, was making sexual comments and requests through Snapchat, the release stated.
"A preliminary investigation for an alleged offense, deputies discovered Angel Javier Jaime violated an offense defined in Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code 106.06, Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor," Cameron County deputies said in the release.
According to deputies, the girl drank a "Twisted Tea", an alcoholic beverage, at some time during the night. When deputies asked Jaime if he was aware she drank alcohol he responded, yes.
Jaime was placed under arrest and booked into Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.
A separate alleged offense is under investigation, authorities said.
