CCSO: Inmate charged for assaulting jailer

OLMITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An inmate was charged with assaulting a jailer Sunday afternoon, according to a press release.

Cameron County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center regarding a report of an assault, a news release from the sheriff's office stated.

The suspect was identified as 37-year-old inmate Armando Villarreal, the release stated.

Villarreal was being transported to the infirmary when he became combative and proceeded to strike at the jailers, causing injuries to a jailer's face.

Both Villarreal and the jailer were cleared by medical staff.

Deputies arrested Villarreal and charged him with Assault on a Public Servant a third-degree felony, the release stated.
