OLMITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in reference to an inmate assaulting a detention officer.
Upon arrival, Deputies were informed by jail staff that inmate, Jose Anthony Dominguez was having his shackles removed by detention officers when he suddenly turned around and began swinging punches at the guards.
Dominguez struck one of the officers on his face and nose, which caused injuries that required medical evaluation, according to a release.
He was restrained again and charged with assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony.
Deputies say Dominguez has previous charges of assault on a public servant and resisting arrest by the Harlingen Police Department.
He will remain incarcerated at Carrizales Rucker to answer for these charges.
