HIDALGO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry seized more than $4.2 million in different narcotics.
On Friday, Dec. 13 at the International Bridge in Hidalgo, a CBP officer referred a 2013 Chrysler van for a secondary inspection, according to a new release from CBP.
During the inspection, officers found 30 packages hidden within the vehicle containing a total of 442 pounds of alleged methamphetamine and two packages containing approximately 18 pounds of alleged heroin.
The drugs had a combined estimated street value of $4,294,759, the release stated.
CBP seized the drugs and vehicle and turned them over to the state and local High-Intensity Drug Task Force.
The HIDTFA arrested the driver and a criminal investigation was initiated.
