PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — United States Customs and Border Protection officers seized over $7 million worth of methamphetamine concealed within a shipment in Pharr.
On Jan. 6, CBP officers encountered a tractor-trailer attempting to enter the U.S. from Mexico through the Pharr International Bridge, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The tractor-trailer was selected for inspection, where officers found 357 packages hidden within the trailer.
The release added the package contained alleged methamphetamine that weighed a total of 869.72 pounds and had an estimated value of $7,770,000.
CBP officers seized the drugs and vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents initiated a criminal investigation.
