A truck driver was arrested after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Roma International Bridge discovered over $1.6 million worth of cocaine concealed inside a commercial shipment of soft drinks, according to a press release.

On Friday, officers assigned to the Roma International Bridge cargo facility encountered the tractor-trailer making entry from Mexico hauling the shipment.

That trailer was selected for inspection and CBP officers extracted 50 packages of cocaine weighing at a little over 120 pounds.

“The cocaine has an estimated street value of $1,604,262,” the release said.

The driver’s identity wasn’t revealed in the press release.

Officers then turned over the truck, narcotics and the driver to the Roma Police Department who arrested the driver and opened a criminal investigation.
