BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Cameron County District Attorney's Office will be reviewing the case involving an officer who was shot in Brownsville, police said.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on May 8, Brownsville police officers responded to a report of an open door at a home on the 0 block of Coahuila Ct. While officers were investigating the door, the homeowner shot at the officers on his property. One of the officers was struck in the chest, police said.
The officer was transported to a local hospital, which police attributed to the use of a protective vest.
In an update, police said the officer was released from the hospital the following day.
After the shooting, the homeowner was questioned at the police station, but police did not add whether he would be facing charges.
On Monday, police confirmed with ValleyCentral that the case is under review.
