Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño announces beach closure due to high tides

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. announced a temporary beach closure due to extreme high tides.

Effective Monday, Jan. 9, at 9 a.m. Cameron County Judge Treviño Jr. ordered a temporary closure of the following beaches:

• Boca Chica Beach
• County Beach Access No. 4
• County Beach Access No. 5/E.K. Atwood Park Pavilion
• County Beach Access No. 6

Due to extreme high tides, the beaches will be closed until further notice. Visitors and pedestrians are asked to be cautious when visiting the beaches and be aware of the Flag Advisory System.

Other county beach areas, such as Isla Blanca Park and Andy Bowie County Park will remain open until further notice.
