Cameron County Judge announces temporary closure of State Highway 4

BOCA CHICA BEACH, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño announced temporarily closing State Highway 4 and Boca Chica Beach.

According to a release from the judge's office, these closures will occur with any space flight activity now or in the future.

Access to Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 from FM 1419 to the Entrance of Boca Chica Beach will be temporarily closed due to testing activities for SpaceX.

The closure will happen from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 10.

SpaceX and law enforcement will be coordinating between two checkpoints to ensure that no individuals or vehicles are allowed access to these areas during these times of the day.

Those who provide proof of residence between the two checkpoints will be allowed to proceed through the soft checkpoint and access their homes during testing, the release stated.

Access beyond the hard checkpoint to the beach will not be permitted during temporary closures.
