Caballero: Having South Texas Health System in Pharr is momentous

2 weeks ago 38

Good morning. Thank you for joining us on this momentous occasion.

On behalf of the City of Pharr Commission administration, employees, and all Pharr families, I’d like to welcome you as we celebrate today’s grand opening.

We are so proud that South Texas Health System chose Pharr as home for its 7th freestanding emergency department; the only emergency room in the city of Pharr.

Pharr families can now have peace of mind knowing that they can access emergency health care services in a strategic, convenient location in the southern part of Pharr and Hidalgo County.

This facility will provide much-needed life-saving care and emergency services to people in rural areas. Currently, the closest emergency room facility is miles away.

With its proximity to the Pharr International Bridge, we’re certain that this facility will bridge the gap in emergency care services and help to give access to critical healthcare services that people need.

We thank South Texas Health System for choosing Pharr.

Welcome again, and Thank You!

Editor’s Note: The above guest column is based on the remarks Dr. Ramiro Caballero, MD, prepared for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony was held to celebrate South Texas Health System’s new freestanding ER department. The $14.3 million facility is located near the intersection of Cage Boulevard and Ridge Road in Pharr. Dr. Caballero is also a Pharr City Commissioner. His prepared remarks appear in the Rio Grande Guardian with his permission.
