Brownsville reaches milestone in high-speed internet

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville and Lit Fiber, a leading provider of high-speed internet service, announced they have officially connected their first customer
to the internet.

This is a large milestone for residents and local businesses in Brownsville because it marks a step in providing a new choice of high-speed internet services.

Lit Fiber is a leader in reliable, high-speed fiber-optic internet service for both residents
and businesses across the states of Ohio and Texas.

"This new service in Brownsville underscores Lit Fiber's commitment to bridging the digital
divide through strategic investments and elevating the City from its former ranking as one
of the 'Least Connected Cities in America' to one of the most connected and advanced in
the country," the city stated.

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board is also getting in on the partnership to ensure a brighter
future, where every resident and business will have access to fast, reliable, and affordable
internet connectivity.

Construction of Lit Fiber's network started in the Spring of 2023. The company is working to make more progress with a focus on minimizing disruption to the community.
