Brownsville prepares for upcoming Charro Days events

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Charro Days is right around the corner and the list of upcoming events is prepared to kick off the festivities.

Charro Days starts its celebration with the annual Baile Del Sol event taking place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Charro Days Headquarters, located at 455 E. Elizabeth Street.

At 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29 parents are welcome to see their children's performances at the BISD Children's Parade.

Sombrero Fest prepares for upcoming Charro Days road closures

Students will have early dismissal at the following times:

  • 11:45 p.m. for BISD Middle Schools
  • 12:15 p.m. for BISD elementary schools
  • 1 p.m. for BISD high schools

At 6 p.m. following the children's parade, the annual Noche Mexicana Dance will be hosted at the Jacob Brown Auditorium.

At 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, the Illuminated Parade will begin.

At 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, the Color Guard Parade will be held, followed by the Grand International Parade at 1 p.m.

The annual Charro Days Carnival will also open its doors on Feb. 29 through Sunday, March 10.

Tickets for the carnival are available for pick-up at the Charro Days Headquarters during operation hours.
