BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Police Department arrested three men who investigators said played a role in auto thefts.
Ayrton Ortiz, 26, and Angel Guerrero, 20, were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity, a news release from Brownsville PD stated.
Police said Ortiz had a "prominent role" in directing others to a specific location for auto thefts and his vehicle was seen during the auto thefts.
Ortiz was arrested during a traffic stop.
Guerro attempted to cross illegally into the U.S. at the Fort Brown Border Patrol Station. Agents revealed he had two warrants out of Brownsville PD for theft of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity and was arrested, the release stated.
According to a news release from Brownsville PD, 22-year-old Jonathan Reyes had two arrest warrants for theft of a motor vehicle.
Ortiz was issued a bond of $120,000. Guerrero was issued a bond of $35,000. Reyes received a bond of $50,000.
