BPD: Duo wanted for theft at bait store, arrested

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man and a woman were arrested for allegedly stealing from a bait store, authorities say.

Ana Luisa Escalante, 40, was charged with theft of property with two or more previous convictions and Fernando Garcia, 44, was charged with theft of property with previous convictions, according to a release from the Brownsville Police Department.

On Thursday, Escalante and Garcia were wanted by the Brownsville Police Department for theft at Gordon's Bait and Tackle, located at the 7000 block of S Padre Island Highway.

At 10:22 p.m. on Friday, authorities arrested Escalante and Garcia at the 6500 block of Dockberry Circle.

Both were arraigned on Saturday. Escalante was issued a $2,500 bond and Garcia was issued a bond of $1,500.
