Border Patrol RGV chief addresses possible animal abuse

FALFURRIAS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Border Patrol Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Gloria Chavez addressed an incident caught on tape showing what appears to be an agent kneeing a Border Patrol K-9.

Chief Chavez said they are taking the allegations seriously and said they have made the proper inquiries to conduct a full investigation.

"We love our dogs. They are very special law enforcement partners. Any mistreatment or abuse by their handlers will not be tolerated in any capacity,” Chavez said.

Chavez did not disclose any further details regarding this incident.
