Body of missing La Blanca man found in crop field

LA BLANCA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man who was reported missing three weeks ago was found dead in La Blanca, authorities say.

Juan Luis Calvillo Avila, 49, was last seen June 1 in La Blanca near FM 493 and SH 107.

La Blanca is located between Edinburg and Elsa.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's investigators followed up with the search where Avila was last seen and located his lifeless body in a crop field.

Avila was positively identified earlier this week on Wednesday through fingerprint records.

According to the HCSO, Avila suffered from various medical conditions and an autopsy was ordered to determine his cause of death.

According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, a medical examination found no signs of trauma to Avila.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's investigators continue to investigate Avila's death.
