BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Independent School District is reporting its Superintendent Jesus H. Chavez is recovering after his scheduled medical procedure.
Chavez was reported to have a small tumor early last month and annonuced he would be undergoing surgery.
The district said they expect to have him back soon.
"I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our BISD family and the entire Brownsville community during my recovery," Chavez said. "I'm feeling stronger each day and am excited to return to working directly with our outstanding students and staff. I look forward to resuming my full duties soon."
During his absence, Chavez has remained in communication with district leadership to ensure continuity in district initiatives and operations.
Chief Financial Officer Alejandro Cespedes will continue to serve as the primary point of contact for district matters as long as Chavez remains out of the office.
