BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Superintendent Jesus H. Chavez is back in the office Tuesday after taking a medical leave from the Brownsville Independent School District.
"I am excited and energized to return to serving our students, staff and community," Chavez stated. "The opportunity to once again serve our educational community is a profound privilege, and I am committed to continuing the critical work of our district and advancing educational opportunities for our students."
This comes after the BISD Superintendent underwent a planned medical procedure.
The district's Chief Financial Officer Alejandro Cespedes, who served as the district's point of contact during Chavez's absence, will now revert to his primary administrative responsibilities.
