Big musical lineup set for Hidalgo Borderfest ‘25 celebrating Ireland

Craic! Hidalgo Borderfest 2025 will celebrate the culture of Ireland during the four-day event March 13 to 16 at Payne Arena in Hidalgo, including multiple recreations of the Emerald Isle and traditional Irish dance performances.

A Rio Grande Valley tradition in its 49th year, event organizers announced its dates and entertainment lineup this week, which includes the carnival, two Illuminates Night parades, Junior Court and Queens pageant, the Taste of Tejas BBQ Cookoff and more.

Admission is free Thursday, March 13, when Borderfest kicks off with its Grand Parade at 6:30 p.m., followed by outdoor music by Los Graduados NB, Los Mismos De Linares and La Costumbre.

The lineup for Friday, March 14, includes Eitan, La Firma and Neton Vega on the outdoor stage.

Six artists will be on Borderfest’s stage on Saturday, March 15, starting with Grupo Shary, Creative Arts Studios, Anexxado, Inspector, Calle 24 and culminating with East Coast hip-hop artist Fat Joe.

Then on Sunday, March 16, music by Mexican Boyz, Elvis Ayala, Del Vali, Atrapado and Pesado will entertain festival goers.

Inside Payne Arena, “Break Ya Neck” rapper Busta Rhymes will perform Friday, March 14, and Mexican rap artist Tito Double P will perform Saturday, March 15. Tickets for indoor shows must be purchased separately at www.hidalgoarena.com, but tickets include entrance to the festival grounds.

The inaugural Borderfest in 1976 celebrated American Bicentennial by commemorating the local border culture, the international setting, and the unique community spirit. It drew 500 attendees. Nearly 50 years later, thousands will visit the Borderfest grounds.
