Be proactive with brain health, says doctor

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — May is Stroke Awareness Month. Dr. Jaime Gomez is a board-certified physician who specializes in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Gomez also deals with patients who suffer from strokes and their aftermath.

He says, "One of the things we do in our practice is we help people identify, particularly if they have an injury in the carotid artery that is giving blood flow to their brain. We help them repair that if needed. That's something we've been doing over the last few years to help people get the blood flow to their brain."

Gomez reminds people to think of their brain as one of their greatest assets. Not to take for granted brain health, especially in today's environment, to be somewhat intentional.
