The alleged getaway driver involved in a fatal shooting that occurred outside a McDonald’s in Alamo is scheduled to be arraigned next week, according to court documents.
Christina Louise Montemayor, 45, has been charged with murder for the death of Raul Cantu Jr., who died on Aug. 20, 2024.
The shooting happened around 11:47 p.m. that day at a restaurant located at 1018 W. Frontage Road in Alamo.
Alamo police have also arrested three others involved in the shooting which include 32-year-old Carlos Alfredo Jasso, 27-year-old Jose Alberto Jimenez Jr. and 23-year-old Alberto Angel Medina.
Previously, former Alamo police spokesperson Jacob Garcia stated that investigators believe the shooting to be gang and drug related.
According to the probable cause affidavit, when police arrived at the location they found Cantu dead with multiple gunshot wounds.
“During the review of the McDonald’s camera footage, investigators observed (Cantu) walk through the parking lot towards Frontage Road where he made contact with two male subjects,” the affidavit said. “Investigators observed (Cantu) interact with the subjects on what appeared to be a transaction.”
Jimenez then arrived in a blue Ford Fusion.
One of the men, who was later identified as “Los,” struck Cantu with both his hands while the second man punched him and pushed Cantu.
It was then that Medina pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Cantu twice in his upper torso, according to the affidavit.
The men were then seen leaving in a brown 2013 Chrysler 200, which was later learned to have been driven by Montemayor.
Because police were already familiar with Montemayor from “previous encounters,” they called and asked her to come to the police department to provide a statement.
She compiled and initially stated that she went to McDonald’s to pick up food for her kids, according to the affidavit, but later recanted her story.
She then said she went there because “Los” was going to give Cantu $100, adding that she picked up “Los” and Medina at 1301 19 1/2 St. in McAllen and drove them to McDonald’s to meet with Cantu.
Montemayor also claimed to not know the men, but later drove “Los” to the Motel 6 located at 700 W. Expressway 83, according to the affidavit.
“The defendant stated she heard shots being fired but did not see what happened,” the affidavit stated.
Medina and Jasso remain jailed on $260,000 and $250,000 in bonds, respectively.
Jimenez was released on Dec. 13 on a $25,000 bond while Montemayor was released on Oct. 10 on a $50,000 bond.
