Area Roundup: La Feria cruises past Bay City

SINTON — The La Feria Lions punched their ticket to the regional semifinals after roaring past the Bay City Blackcats 59-41 on Thursday at Sinton High School in their Region IV-4A DI area round playoff game.

La Feria improved to 26-7 overall with the victory and extended its winning streak to 15 games.

La Feria was in control from the start and opened up a 10-point lead by the half. The Lions defense held Bay City to 10 points or less in three of the game’s four quarters.

Evan Lopez and Kyle Aguirre led the Lions with 15 points apiece. Austin Vaughan added 13 and Noah Rosales finished with seven.

Javius Andrews led Bay City with 19 points and Brayden Ellis had 12.

Next for La Feria is a third-round playoff matchup against the winner of Davenport (29-5) and Floresville (16-17), who are scheduled to play at noon Saturday at Seguin High School.

CLASS 3A DI

CORPUS CHRISTI LONDON 81, RAYMONDVILLE 50: At Falfurrias, the Bearkats saw their season come to an end in the area round against the No. 4-ranked team in Class 3A on Thursday at Falfurrias High School.

Raymondville senior Joshua Tamez scored a team-high 14 points for the Bearkats, while Colt Cavazos finished with nine.

AC Carpenter led Corpus Christi London (31-5) with a game-high 30 points.

Raymondville finishes its season at 21-10 overall.

London advances to next week’s regional semifinals to face the winner of Columbus and Randolph.
