Architecture, engineering and construction groups set program on regional partnerships

McALLEN — A luncheon and networking program on Feb. 13 will explore the role of partnerships, collaboration and best practices that drive economic development in the Rio Grande Valley.

The event, Building the Valley: Uniting for RGV Regional Growth, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is sponsored by Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects (I-LinCP), the RGV Partnership, South Texas Facility Partnership, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and D. Wilson Construction. 

It will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton McAllen Convention Center.

The program will offer insights into infrastructure initiatives, economic development prospecting, how construction processes and practices are implemented, and the regional partnerships that drive engagement and economic growth, according to a news release.

Three panel discussions are scheduled:

>> “Partnerships Driving Regional Growth” with Brian Godinez, principal with STFP, panel moderator; Daniel Silva, CEO, RGV Partnership; Adam Gonzalez, CEO, COSTEP; and Mario Reyna, coordinator for Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force and RioPlex.

>> “UTRGV’s Role in Shaping the Future” with Laura Lara, associate vice president for planning and construction, UTRGV, and James Rodriguez, director of facilities planning and management, SOM, UTRGV.

>> “Design & Build Industry in the RGV and its $20B Economic Impact” with Jose Reyes, CEO of D. Wilson, panel moderator; Rose Benavidez, president, Starr County Industrial Foundation; Victor Perez, CEO, Pharr Economic Development Corporation; and Gilberto Salinas, CEO, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corp.
