AltaCair to host four ‘cluster meetings’ on education, health, government, and nonprofits

MCALLEN, Texas – AltaCair Foundation is to host four “cluster meetings” in the Rio Grande Valley in April.

The nonprofit will host the first two meetings on April 4 and the other two on April 11.

The two on April 4 will be held at UT-Rio Grande Valley’s administrative headquarters. The address is 701 E. Expressway 83, McAllen. 

The two on April 11 will be hosted at the Rio Grande Valley Partnership offices in Weslaco. The address is 322 S. Missouri Avenue, Weslaco.

The first event on April 4 is titled “Educational Institutions Cluster Meeting.” It will be hosted by Dr. Edwin Estevez, co-founder and principal of AltaCair, and Veronica Gonzales of UT-Rio Grande Valley. It will run from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

The second event on April 4 is titled “HealthCare Institutions Cluster Meeting.” It will be hosted by Todd Mann of South Texas Health System and Manny Vela of Texas A&M University. It will run from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

The first event on April 11 is titled “Nonprofit Cluster Meeting.” It will be hosted by Sister Norma Pimentel of Catholic Charities RGV and Sabrina Walker Hernandez of Supporting World Hope. It will run from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

The second event on April 11 is titled “Government Entities Cluster Meeting.” It will be hosted by Gil Torres of Willacy County EMS and Thomas Ray Garcia of the College Scholarship Leadership Access Program. It will run from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

“The goal is bring organizations together to see what they are currently doing and what they can further do for the underserved/unserved population, starting with colonias,” said AltaCair Foundation President Dr Rashmi Chandran.

Chandran said AltaCair is committed to addressing the challenges faced by underserved Rio Grande Valley communities, including food security, water access, transportation, and basic health needs. “We believe in fostering collaborative initiatives, working alongside partners from various sectors to ensure equitable access to vital resources, driving thriving communities forward,” she said.

AltaCair made a big splash in the Valley last Fall with the “Accelerator 2023 RGV Health Equity Conference.” It was co-hosted by Western Governors University.
