A preview of Industrial Warehouse Summit 4

PHARR, Texas – Luis Méndez, the new director general of Index Reynosa, has confirmed his attendance at IWS4.

IWS stands for Industrial Warehouse Summit. The events are hosted jointly by Pharr Economic Development Corporation and the Pharr International Bridge Board.

The fourth such summit takes place at the Pharr Development & Research Center on Dicker Road in south Pharr, on Tuesday, October. 8. It runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The sponsors are South Texas Facility Partnership and Raba Kistner.

Méndez hopes to forge stronger relations between Index Reynosa and Pharr EDC. Index is the trade association for the maquiladora industry.

Pharr EDC has also invited Mauricio Treviño Garza, secretary for economic development for Reynosa, to attend.

The purpose of IWS is to give land developers, realtors, and investors an opportunity to learn more about Pharr and its industry resources. Information is provided on new and existing industrial parks and land available for development in Pharr.

Victor Perez, president and CEO of Pharr EDC, will give the welcome remarks at IWS4. Lilvette Santos, economic business development director for Pharr EDC, will then speak about the reasons for investing in Pharr. Her presentation is titled “Discover the Opportunities.”

Luis Bazan, director of the Pharr International Bridge, is slated to give a presentation on expansion plans for the bridge. His presentation is titled “Much More Than a Bridge.”

Ruben Alfaro, development engineer for Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority, is also scheduled to speak at IWS4. He will give updates on and permit requirements for the 365 Loop Project.

Linda Ufland Romo and Julio Quiroga, from UT-Rio Grande Valley, will speak about the new Pharr Global Business Hub. Ufland Romo is director of entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialization at UTRGV. Quiroga is a business development and improvement specialist at UTRGV. Their presentation is titled “Catalyst for Change.”

Janie Cavazos, property and business development manager for Pharr EDC, will give a presentation on the new commercial and industrial properties being developed in Pharr.

The final speaker will be Jose J. Peña, IT director for the City of Pharr. He will speak about the rollout of Team.Pharr.Net, the city’s blazing fast fiber optic broadband service. His presentation is titled “Closing the Digital Divide.”
